Three Parental-Rights Measures Advance to Colorado’s November Ballot
DENVER, Sept. 22, 2026 BPALiveWire — Three ballot measures focused on protecting children and strengthening parental rights will appear before Colorado voters this November.
This will be the first state in the nation to give voters the power to protect girls’ sports through Proposition 134 and prohibit irreversible sex-change surgeries on minor children through Proposition 135.
It will be the second state to give voters the opportunity to vote on life in prison without parole for buying or selling a child for sex through Proposition 133.
Proposition 133: Establishes a penalty of life in prison without parole for buying or selling a child for sex.
Proposition 134: Designates sports in Colorado as male, female or coed. Everyone gets to play.
Proposition 135: Prohibits irreversible sex-change surgeries on children 17 and younger.
Winning these three measures in politically blue Colorado would dramatically change the course of these issues nationwide.
Supporters say the measures respond to growing concerns about the safety, privacy, and well-being of children in schools, sports, and medical settings. They argue the proposals give parents greater involvement in decisions affecting their children and establish clearer standards in areas where current policy has left gaps.
