BPALiveWire Press Release Submission
Submit a Release to BPALiveWire
BPALiveWire is not a broadcast blast service. Every release is read and matched to a curated list of journalists, outlets and organizations most likely to cover your story — based on the subject, the geography, and the audience your news serves.
If that sounds like the way you'd like your release handled, you're in the right place.
Before You Submit
Before you write, please confirm three things. Releases that don't clear this checklist are returned without review.
1. The 400-word rule.
BPALiveWire releases are capped at 400 words, not counting the headline, subhead, dateline and the About / media contact block at the bottom. We enforce this because shorter releases get opened, read, and forwarded.
2. You actually have the news.
We distribute announcements, launches, hires, partnerships, awards, op-eds framed as releases, policy positions from named organizations, events with confirmed dates and venues, and book or product releases with verified publication or ship dates. We do not distribute promotional copy, advertorials, ranking claims we cannot verify, or releases that read like ad copy.
3. You can prove you speak for the people or organizations named in the release.
See the agreement at the bottom of this page. If you are submitting on behalf of a company, nonprofit, agency, campaign, board or coalition, the release must be signed off by someone with the authority to speak for that entity. We verify.
Our Editorial Standards
BPALiveWire is read by journalists, congressional and state-legislature staff, association leaders, corporate communications teams and policy professionals. Releases we distribute have to hold up in front of that audience. Every release is reviewed against four standards:
-
Accurate. Facts, figures, dates, titles and direct quotes are verifiable. Numbers carry a source. Quotes are real quotes from named people.
-
Newsworthy. The release tells the reader something they did not know, with a reason to care. "We are pleased to announce" alone does not make news. The "why this, why now" is in the lede, not buried in paragraph seven.
-
Decent. Releases are appropriate for audiences of all ages and professional backgrounds. No profanity, no personal attacks, no content that demeans a person or group.
-
Lawful and on the record. The release does not defame, does not violate a non-disclosure, does not name a minor in a way that puts the child at risk, and does not contain material we have reason to believe is untrue.
If a submission does not meet these standards, we will return it. We do not distribute releases that fail the review, and we do not refund credits for submissions that are returned at our request because they cannot be made to meet the standards.
How the Process Works
Most releases follow this path:
Step 1 — Submit. Upload your release as a Word doc, Google Doc link, or paste it into the form below. Include your media contact (name, email, phone) and the journalist or outlet list you'd like us to consider. If you do not have a list, tell us the subject, the geography, and the audience — we'll build one.
Step 2 — Review. Our editorial team reads every release. Standard review takes up to two business hours during business hours. Reviews happen Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern. If we have questions, we email you — please watch your inbox, including the spam folder.
Step 3 — Curated distribution. We match the release to a hand-built media list for that beat. Distribution goes out under the BPALiveWire banner, and you receive a delivery report within 24 hours.
If you are a new client, there is a one-time account verification before your first release goes out. That can take up to two business days. After that, the standard review window applies.
Agreement — Please Read Before You Submit
By clicking Submit Release below, you confirm the following:
-
You have the authority to speak on behalf of every person, company, nonprofit, agency, campaign or organization named in the release, or you have written permission from someone who does.
-
The facts, figures, dates, titles and quotes in the release are accurate to the best of your knowledge, and you are prepared to substantiate them if a journalist asks.
-
The release meets our editorial standards listed above — accurate, newsworthy, decent, and lawful.
-
You understand that BPALiveWire reviews every release before distribution and may return or decline a submission that does not meet those standards, and that credits are only charged for releases we actually distribute.
If you cannot confirm all four, please do not submit yet. Email us at media@basspublicaffairs.com and we'll help you get the release ready.
