WASHINGTON / April 1, 2026 / BPALiveWire - Bass Bonded Publishing hosted a luncheon at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., to mark the 250th anniversary of Abigail Adams’ famous “Remember the Ladies” letter, a defining document of the American Revolution that continues to resonate today.

Adams, part of one of America’s founding families, maintained a decadeslong correspondence with her husband, John Adams, spanning their courtship and 54-year marriage. Her March 31, 1776, letter stands out not only for its appeal to women’s rights but also for its reflection on the contradictions of a nation fighting for liberty.

“The ‘Remember the Ladies’ letter captures the complexities the colonists faced during the American Revolution,” said Deana Bass Williams, co-founder of Bass Bonded Publishing. “Beyond its most quoted line, Abigail Adams challenges the hypocrisy of seeking freedom from Britain while denying rights to others. She also critiques Lord Dunmore’s proclamation, which offered freedom to enslaved people who joined the British, revealing the moral and political tensions of the moment.”

In the letter, Adams urges lawmakers to consider women’s rights as they form a new government, warning that women would not remain bound by laws in which they had no voice. Her reference to Dunmore’s proclamation underscores colonial fears of British strategy while raising the broader question of who freedom was truly for.

The event also served as a platform for Bass Bonded Publishing to announce its upcoming “Rediscovered American Classics” collection. In recognition of America’s 250th anniversary, the series expands to include foundational texts from the Revolutionary era, offering readers a deeper understanding of the nation’s origins and ideals.

More than a collection of public domain works, the series is designed to enrich the reading experience. Each volume includes chapter summaries that provide context and key takeaways, discussion questions to support book clubs and classroom use and curated recipes inspired by the era and themes of the text.

The collection will be available for pre-order beginning May 15, 2026, at bassbondedpublishing.com/rac.
