Black Republican Mayors Go To Capitol Hill to Raise Awareness: Their Towns and Cities Are Open for Business

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 15, 2025

WASHINGTON, April 15, 2025 /BPALiveWire/ - On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, six (6) Black Republican Mayors will participate in the Annual DC Fly-In of the African American Mayors Association. This is the largest delegation of Black Republican mayors to participate in the annual meeting.

The Black Republican Mayors will conduct their own congressional visits on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, to raise awareness and to let Congress know that their towns and cities are open for business.

All too often, Black Republican mayors are overlooked when conducting engagement or hosting high-level visits in favor of big-city mayors, and the hill visits are designed to change that narrative.

"We want Congress to move on the President's stalled tax package," said DeAndre Allen, Executive Director of the Black Republican Mayors Association. "Furthermore, what we know from 2017 is that the tax breaks freed up capital and, paired with the Opportunity Investment Zones, moved that capital into underserved communities in urban and rural America."

Also joining them will be Ms. Laverne Jones Gore, who has pulled petitions to challenge Cleveland, Ohio, Mayor Justin Bibb.

The Association has also teamed up with Conserve The Culture, The Committee of 40, and the South Carolina African American Chamber to help get the President's Budget passed.
