With the federal government shutdown dragging into its fourth week, Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., is championing a no-nonsense fix: the No Budget, No Pay Act.
The bill would suspend paychecks for all 535 members of Congress until funding is restored. Scott, speaking on Fox News, argued that lawmakers should not receive pay if they fail to do their job, echoing the frustration of millions.
Over 700,000 federal workers, from TSA screeners to national park rangers, toil without pay, while lawmakers pocket $174,000 annual salaries. Military families skip meals as Democrats block clean funding bills for the 13th time.
Scott’s proposal cuts through the hypocrisy. It’s bipartisan common sense, backed by Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted. Popular influencers like the Hodgetwins amplified it on Instagram, racking up 30,000 likes and igniting viral support.
This isn’t theater. Shutdowns cost billions and erode trust. Scott, a former hospital CEO who built a business empire, knows accountability drives results. Democrats’ obstruction, prioritizing subsidies for illegal immigrants over Americans, must end.
Pass the No Budget, No Pay Act. Let Congress feel the pain they inflict. Florida’s fighter is leading; now Washington must follow. Americans deserve leaders who deliver, or go unpaid.
